Community Based Programs
Creating space to heal, connect, and grow together — through land, learning, and collective care.
One community. Many paths. Joyful programs
We Lead by Staying Connected
Youth leadership doesn’t start in isolation — it grows from connection. Through shared experiences with elders, peers, land, and community, we create space for youth to lead by staying connected to where they come from and who they’re growing with.
These programs are about trying new things, stretching comfort zones, learning from one another, and building relationships that make transformation possible — not just for individuals, but for the communities we belong to.
Bridging The Nature Gap
This year-round program reconnects BIPOC communities living in urban areas with the land through immersive, outdoor experiences. Participants explore new terrain — both physically and socially — through guided hikes, cave explorations, outdoor yoga, and place-based storytelling.
These gatherings are not only about access to nature, but about reclaiming space, building intergenerational relationships, and centering joy and reflection in environments where BIPOC communities are often underrepresented. Each event is designed to create belonging, curiosity, and confidence — while grounding participants in the history and futures of the land we’re on.
Rock Climbing 101
A beginner-friendly, pay-what-you-can climbing series for BIPOC participants curious about entering a space that has historically lacked representation. Hosted at Ottawa’s oldest climbing gym, this multi-week series offers safe, supported instruction by certified coaches — with all equipment provided.
More than just learning to climb, the program encourages participants to push past fear, build community, and try something new in a space designed for them. It’s also a chance to talk about access, movement, and resilience — and to have fun doing it.
Cultivating Connections
This four-part workshop series is designed to (re)connect BIPOC participants with land, culture, and each other through hands-on learning, reflection, and creativity. Sessions include nature walks, plant-based teachings, artistic expression, and community dialogue — with a focus on healing and discovery.
All ages and genders are welcome, and the space prioritizes accessibility, collective care, and mutual learning. Participants leave with a deeper sense of place, expanded awareness of traditional ecological knowledge, and renewed connection to themselves and others.
Pop-Up Events
Throughout the year, we host one-off events that respond to what our communities are asking for,. These events are designed to be joyful, accessible, and culturally rooted opportunities to learn, move, and gather.
Each event is free, inclusive, and shaped by the people who show up. They're not just about trying something new — they're about doing it together.
